Official answer keys — 120 from the commissions

Model answer keys as released. These are worth checking within the objection window rather than after it — most commissions accept challenges to individual questions for a few days only, and a successful objection changes the key for everyone who sat the paper.

Planning your next exam? See which ones you can apply for.

A model answer key is usually provisional. The final key is published after objections are decided, and marks are computed from that one.

Every link above points to the issuing body's own file. We do not host copies and we do not rewrite documents. Dates are when our crawler first saw the document, not when the commission published it — that is what we can actually verify.

Which commissions publish here

Of the 120 documents on this board, SSC accounts for 76 — about 63%. That is not a ranking of how active each body is; it reflects how each one publishes. Some post every document to a public notice board, others release the same information behind a candidate login where no crawler can reach it, and a few publish in bursts around a cycle rather than continuously. A body with few rows here is not necessarily quiet.

The objection window is short and most people miss it

A model answer key is published so candidates can challenge it. The window is usually a few days, it closes on a fixed date, and a successful objection changes the key for everyone who sat the paper — not only for the person who raised it. It is the one point in the process where an individual can change the outcome.

Most commissions charge a fee per question and refund it if the challenge succeeds. That fee is deliberate: it stops speculative objections. Raise one only where you have a source, and attach it.

What a challenge actually needs to contain

Commissions publish an objection format and it is worth following exactly. A challenge that succeeds names the question number, states the answer given in the key, states the answer you say is correct, and cites a source a third party can check — a named textbook with an edition and page, a government publication, or a statutory provision.

What does not succeed: coaching-institute keys, screenshots of a discussion group, or an argument that a question was ambiguous without proposing which option is defensible. Ambiguity challenges do sometimes end with a question being dropped, but they need the same evidentiary standard, not less.

Provisional key, final key, and the marks in between

The key published immediately after an exam is provisional. The final key is issued once objections are decided, and marks are computed from that one. Candidates who calculate a score against the provisional key and act on it — deciding whether to prepare for the next stage, or whether to apply elsewhere — are working from a number that is not final.

Questions are sometimes dropped entirely when a challenge succeeds and no option is defensible. Most commissions then award the marks to every candidate, which shifts the cut-off for the whole cohort rather than helping anyone individually.

Using a key when you did not sit the paper

An answer key from a previous cycle is the most honest sample paper available: real difficulty, real distribution across topics, and the real level of ambiguity in wording. A coaching mock reproduces none of those accurately, because mocks are written to be hard rather than to be representative.

Work through one under timed conditions before buying practice material. It will tell you which sections you actually lose marks in, which is usually not the section you believe you are weakest at.

Frequently asked questions

Can I challenge an answer I think is wrong?

Yes, within the objection window, which is usually a few days and closes on a fixed date. Most commissions charge a fee per question and refund it if the challenge succeeds. Attach a source — a standard textbook or an official publication — because an objection without evidence is dismissed.

What happens if a question is dropped?

Most commissions award the marks for it to every candidate who sat the paper. That raises the cut-off for the whole cohort rather than helping any individual, so a successful objection rarely changes your position relative to others — it changes the threshold.

Is the first answer key the final one?

No. The key published soon after an exam is provisional. The final key is issued after objections are decided and marks are computed from that one, so a score calculated against the provisional key is not the score you will receive.

Are old answer keys useful if I did not sit that exam?

They are the most honest practice material available — real difficulty, real topic distribution and real ambiguity in wording, none of which a coaching mock reproduces accurately. Work through one under timed conditions before buying practice books.
