Government exam results and cut-offs — 120 from official sources

Results and cut-off documents as published by the commissions. Cut-off notices are listed alongside results deliberately: a cut-off from the previous cycle is the only honest guide to the mark you need this time, and most candidates never look one up.

Planning your next exam? See which ones you can apply for.

A result document is final only when the commission says so. Provisional lists and preambles are common and are labelled as published.

Every link above points to the issuing body's own file. We do not host copies and we do not rewrite documents. Dates are when our crawler first saw the document, not when the commission published it — that is what we can actually verify.

Which commissions publish here

Of the 120 documents on this board, SSC accounts for 36 — about 30%. That is not a ranking of how active each body is; it reflects how each one publishes. Some post every document to a public notice board, others release the same information behind a candidate login where no crawler can reach it, and a few publish in bursts around a cycle rather than continuously. A body with few rows here is not necessarily quiet.

Reading a result document properly

A result is rarely a single list. Most commissions publish a preamble, a category-wise cut-off, one or more roll-number lists and often a separate marks sheet. The documents contradict each other far less often than candidates misread them.

Provisional means provisional. A list described as provisional or subject to verification is exactly that — appearing on it is not appointment, and candidates have been removed at document verification afterwards. Read the preamble before celebrating or despairing.

Your cut-off is your category's cut-off. Reserved-category candidates are considered against the unreserved list first and appear there on merit if they clear it. In most central recruitment a reserved candidate who clears the General cut-off is counted against the General quota, which surprises people every cycle.

Why last year's cut-off beats this year's rumours

Cut-offs are listed alongside results deliberately. In the weeks after a major exam, predicted cut-offs circulate on messaging groups and coaching pages and they are guesses. The commission's own published cut-off from the previous cycle is a fact, and it is the only reliable anchor for the mark you are aiming at.

Read it with context. A cut-off moves with vacancy count, paper difficulty and applicant numbers, so one year is a weak signal and three years is a decent one. A cut-off that fell sharply usually means vacancies rose, not that the paper got easier.

If your name is not on the list

Check the roll number carefully, then check whether a supplementary or waiting list is mentioned in the preamble — many commissions publish additional lists weeks later as candidates decline offers. Then check whether the next cycle's notification is already out, because the gap between a disappointing result and the next form closing is often shorter than the gap between the result and the disappointment fading.

The paper you just sat, with its answer key, is the most useful preparation material you will ever have, and it expires in usefulness quickly. Work out which section cost you the marks while it is still fresh.

Frequently asked questions

What does provisional mean on a result?

That appearing on the list is not appointment. Candidature remains subject to document verification, medical examination and sometimes a further stage, and candidates have been removed after appearing on a provisional list. The preamble states the conditions.

Why are cut-offs listed alongside results?

Because a published cut-off from a previous cycle is the only reliable guide to the mark you need, while predicted cut-offs circulating after an exam are guesses. Read three years rather than one — a cut-off moves with vacancy count and paper difficulty, not only with candidate quality.

I cleared the General cut-off but I am OBC. Which list am I on?

In most central recruitment a reserved-category candidate who clears the unreserved cut-off on merit is counted against the unreserved quota, not the reserved one. It surprises candidates every cycle, and it works in the reserved category's favour overall because it leaves reserved seats for others.

How long after the result is the next list published?

It varies, and many commissions publish supplementary or waiting lists weeks later as selected candidates decline offers. Check the preamble for whether a waiting list is contemplated before assuming the cycle is closed for you.
