TGPSC Group 1 2026: Eligibility, Age Limit, Vacancy & Selection Process
The upper age limit here is far above the national norm, which makes Group 1 one of very few administrative examinations still open to candidates in their forties. For somebody who has exhausted UPSC attempts this is a second route rather than a technicality — and it is the reason to read the notification instead of assuming the usual mid-thirties ceiling.

Are you eligible for TGPSC Group 1 2026?

TGPSC Group 1 age limit and relaxation 2026
The age limit for TGPSC Group 1 2026 is 18 to 45 years as on 01 Jul 2026. That ceiling is the reason to take this exam seriously. UPSC CSE closes at 32 for a General candidate, so someone out of attempts nationally still has years of TGPSC Group 1 ahead. Very few exams stay open this long.
| Category | Relaxation | Effective maximum age |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | No relaxation | 45 years |
| Reserved categories, women, PwD, ex-servicemen | Set by Telangana government rules for Telangana domicile candidates — read the upper age for your category in the notification | |
The OBC +3 / SC-ST +5 figures that apply to SSC and UPSC are central rules. TGPSC Group 1 follows Telangana's own, and they apply only to Telangana domicile — a reserved-category candidate from another state is assessed as General, at 45. Full age relaxation rules →

Who should apply for TGPSC Group 1
For Telangana graduates, and for older candidates elsewhere in the country who assumed administrative service had closed to them. Establishing which zone you are local to matters more than any other single decision on the form.

- Telangana movement and state-formation history carries real weight in the mains and has no national equivalent.
- Localness is established from schooling records, not from a residence certificate.
