The age limit for India Post GDS 2026 is 18 to 40 years as on 01 Aug 2026. Your age is counted on that cutoff date, not on the day you apply — so a candidate who turns 41 after the cutoff date is still eligible.

Who should apply for India Post GDS
If you scored above 85 percent in Class 10, this is a more favourable route than any competitive exam on this site. Postings are local, which suits candidates who cannot relocate. Note the pay is lower than a Level-1 government post and the role is not a standard civil service appointment.
- Class 10 must include Mathematics and English as studied subjects.
- A basic computer training certificate of at least 60 days is required, from a recognised institute.
- Age limit of 40 is by far the most generous in this list.
