Paper II is qualifying, and it is failed more often than expected

The MPPSC preliminary examination runs two papers. General Aptitude — Paper II — is qualifying at 33%, and its marks do not count toward selection. Because it does not count, candidates deprioritise it, and because it is a hard floor, that is how otherwise strong candidates end their year at the first stage.

Thirty-three per cent is not a high bar. It simply has to be cleared, and a few weeks of comprehension and reasoning practice is usually enough. Treat it as an administrative requirement to discharge, not an optional paper.

MP-specific content runs through both stages

Madhya Pradesh's history, culture, geography, economy and polity carry significant weight in the preliminary and the main examination alike. The state has a large tribal population and a correspondingly distinct set of welfare schemes and administrative arrangements, and questions on them appear regularly.

National-level material does not cover this. Budget for it separately rather than assuming general studies preparation will carry over.

Domicile decides your age limit, not just your reservation

MP's age relaxation is comparatively wide for candidates of the state, and candidates from outside face a lower ceiling. That makes the domicile certificate more consequential here than in states where the relaxation only affects reserved categories.

The certificate is issued by the Tehsildar and is generally applied for through the MP e-District service. As everywhere, an address is not domicile — check the notification's clause and obtain the certificate before the form opens rather than during document verification.

Why this page is slower to update than the others

Every other source on this site is crawled every few hours. MPPSC is not, because its robots.txt says not to, and rendering the page with a browser would not change what that file says — it is a statement of permission, not a technical obstacle.
