The catch nobody mentions: two of these have age ceilings that close early. SSC GD Constable stops at 23, which means a candidate who takes three years to decide has already aged out. If you are 18 or 19 and reading this, the honest advice is to apply to everything on this list now and study afterwards — the forms cost between nothing and ₹100, and an attempt you skip at 19 is not available again at 24.

India Post GDS is first, and it is not close. There is no written examination at all — selection runs on your Class 10 marks. That single fact changes the calculation completely: a candidate with 82% in the board exam is competitive today, with no preparation, no coaching and no year lost. The work is genuinely rural and the pay is modest, but it is a government post with a fixed salary, and people routinely move up from it through departmental exams.

RRB Group D is second on volume. Over thirty thousand posts, an age window that runs to 33, and a syllabus that is genuinely learnable in six months. The physical test rules out fewer people than candidates fear — it is a walking and lifting standard, not an athletic one.

SSC MTS and SSC GD Constable are third, and only because they close earlier and the competition per post is harsher. Do not skip them; just do not build the year around them.

The trap: "10th pass" jobs that are not

A large share of adverts titled "10th pass sarkari naukri" are for posts that need an ITI certificate in a notified trade on top of the certificate. RRB ALP is the best-known example — it is advertised everywhere as a 10th-pass job and it is not one. You need Class 10 plus ITI, or a diploma in engineering.

If you already hold an ITI certificate, you are not on the right page — the ITI and diploma list is three times longer and pays better. If you do not, and you are under 20, a two-year ITI is the single highest-return thing available to you: it moves you from this list to that one permanently.

What the money actually looks like

Level-1 posts start around ₹18,000 a month in hand after deductions in a metro, less in a small town where the allowance is lower. That is not a large salary and it is dishonest to present it as one. What it is: permanent, pensionable under NPS, immune to the layoff cycles that hit private-sector work at this qualification level, and attached to a promotion ladder you climb through departmental exams rather than through another open recruitment.

The candidates who do best from here treat the first post as an entry point. A Group D employee who clears a departmental exam in four years is on a materially different salary from someone who joined at the same level and stopped.
